Who we are

Founded by Ronni Kahn AO in 2004 after noticing the huge volume of food going to waste, OzHarvest quickly grew to become Australia’s leading food rescue organisation. Food is at our core, saving surplus food from ending up in landfill and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. We are committed to halving food waste by 2030, inspiring and influencing others to do the same, and transforming lives through education.

We collect good quality surplus food from a network of donors including supermarkets, cafes, delis, hotels, airlines and restaurants, then deliver direct and free of charge to charities nationally.

Meals Delivered

Starting with one van in Sydney back in 2004, OzHarvest has grown to become a national charity. 320 million meals later, it was obviously a good idea!

The fresh produce in this video went through a journey before it became a meal for someone in need 💛

1. We rescue fresh ingredients from over 2,400 donors - perfectly good produce and staples, saved and brought back to our warehouse kitchen!

2. Cooked up by our Cooking for a Cause crew — amazing corporate volunteers who step into the kitchen and learn zero-waste cooking while turning this produce into meals

3. Delivered straight to charities supporting people doing it tough, plus our free markets in Sydney and Adelaide
