Over seventy OzHarvest Coffs Harbour community members, including the Mayor and two local members, joined to celebrate the grand opening of a new Coffs home at Druitt Court on Friday 10th August.

OzHarvest Coffs Harbour Chapter Coordinator, Julie Ferguson is over the moon with their new home, which has been made possible by overwhelming support from the Coffs community. “Thanks to the generosity of Anthony Jeffcott who has donated the warehouse for up to five years rent free, complete with a cool room and wet area funded by the EPA. We now have a fantastic new home, with the essentials to help grow the local chapter and rescue more food.”

OzHarvest Founder and CEO, Ronni Kahn thanked community members and supporters who have helped OzHarvest’s journey in Coffs Harbour. “Julie has done a fantastic job establishing food rescue in Coffs Harbour. In just four years she has grown the local chapter from delivering food in her own car to rallying the community to raise funds for a van and new warehouse! Along with her team of passionate volunteers, she has delivered over 600,000 meals to help feed vulnerable people in the local community.”

Julie and Ronni were joined by special guests from the community, including OzHarvest volunteers, long-time community supporters, food donors, local members Luke Hartsuyker and Andrew Fraser, and Mayor of Coffs Harbour, Denise Knight for a ribbon cutting ceremony and invitation-only event on Friday, August 10th at midday at Coffs Harbour OzHarvest 2/3 Druitt Court, Coffs Harbour, NSW.

OzHarvest Coffs Harbour started in 2014 and rescues quality food for more than 55 charity partners in the local community. The committed team of 20 volunteers has rescued more than 202 tonnes of food from over 50 caring food donors, including Woolworths, Harbourside Markets, other local food stores and farmers and growers in surrounding region. It receives wonderful support from Coff’s City Council, The Coffs Business Women’s Network, various Rotary clubs, many churches and community care-groups and small businesses that simply care about improving local food waste and hunger.
