New OzHarvest Café by Gratia

by

The OzHarvest Cafe pop-up has now finished at Gratia. Thanks to all of our partners, the staff at Gratia and everyone who came for breakfast, lunch of coffee. Through your support, we were able to raise enough to provide over 155,500 meals to Aussies in need!

Your morning coffee and avo on toast can now feed more than just you, thanks to a new collaboration between profit for purpose café Gratia and leading food rescue organisation, OzHarvest. From today until 16th September, Gratia will have a splash of yellow and a new look menu as OzHarvest co-host the pop up – OzHarvest Café – at 372 Bourke Street, Surry Hills.

As part of Gratia’s social enterprise venture to create positive change, 100 per cent of the profits raised from the café between July to September will be donated to OzHarvest, helping to feed people in need across the country.

OzHarvest Founder and CEO, Ronni Kahn is delighted to be working with like-minded partners Gratia and Folonomo who share our vision for a better world. “This is the perfect partnership as it brings together passionate people and delicious food for a great cause. For the next three months Gratia customers can support OzHarvest through the simple act of buying a meal to give a meal. We believe that food is love and what better way to show you care than investing in brunch with purpose!”

Gratia Co-Founder Nicolas Degryse said their philosophy is about fostering gratitude and empathy in our day-to-day lives. “We’re all about community and compassion and are excited to bring the OzHarvest Café by Gratia to life, serving gourmet food that will help feed people in need across the country.”

In addition to raising vital funds for OzHarvest, the café will also feature a zero-waste inspired menu curated by OzHarvest’s Executive Chef, Travis Harvey using donated food from Brassarie Bread, Black Star Pastry and Select Fresh and ingredients that often go to waste.

“As a chef, I love the creative challenge when it comes to reducing food waste. This menu is all about transforming ingredients that would not usually make it to a restaurant table into delicious dishes. From roasting cauliflower leaves, making jam out of watermelon rind, pickling broccoli stalks, resurrecting old bread and making ramen noodles from bread crumbs, each dish is cooked with love and will help feed those who need it most.”

The OzHarvest Café by Gratia will be open for breakfast and lunch from Wednesday to Sunday 8 am – 3 pm at 372 Bourke Street, Surry Hills. Every $1 spent at the OzHarvest Café by Gratia can help deliver two meals to someone in need.

Thanks to Kounta we have a running total of the meals the café is helping deliver. Check out the impact the cafe is having here.

This exciting venture has been made possible by the generous support of Gratia/Folonomo, Kounta, KeepCup, Amplify Kombucha, First Creek Wines, Brasserie Bread, Black Star Pastry, Select Fresh and Gabriel Coffee.
