New OzHarvest Van Hits Coffs Harbour Streets

by

Earlier this month, a shiny new OzHarvest yellow van hit the streets of Coffs Harbour.

Thanks to funding from the Environmental Trust as part of the NSW EPA’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative, funded from the waste levy, the new van will be out and about rescuing food from local food donors, including five local Woolworths stores, who also provide a staff member as a van assistant once a week to help deliver fresh and nutritious food to more than 50 local charities.

OzHarvest NSW State Manager, Richard Watson said “Julie has done a fantastic job establishing food rescue in Coffs Harbour. In just four years she has grown the local OzHarvest Coffs Harbour chapter from delivering food in her own car to rallying a team of passionate volunteers, setting up a new warehouse and now getting a new van. OzHarvest Coffs Harbour has delivered over 600,000 meals to help feed vulnerable people in the local community.”

OzHarvest is always on the lookout for volunteers to help in regional communities, so if you’re local to the Coffs area and want to lend a hand, get in touch with Julie Ferguson at [email protected]
