OzHarvest SA has been announced as the 2017 Clipsal 500 Adelaide’s official charity partner, in a move that is set to benefit thousands of people in need across South Australia.
Focused on rescuing nutritious food that would otherwise end up in landfill, OzHarvest SA is one of several not-for-profit organisations to join forces with the Clipsal 500 Adelaide to make a positive impact on the South Australian community.
OzHarvest founder and CEO Ronni Kahn today joined Tourism Minister Leon Bignell, along with South Australian Supercars driver Tim Slade to announce the partnership, which will help the for-impact organisation to rescue and deliver more food to disadvantaged people through over 115 charitable agencies.
Minister Bignell said he was delighted to announce OzHarvest SA as the charity partner for next year’s Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
“This is a fantastic example of corporate social responsibility and the positive impact the event has on the wider community,” Mr Bignell said.
“Since 1999, Clipsal 500 Adelaide has supported a huge range of SA charities, helping to raise money for kids, medical research, the underprivileged and much more.
“As a result of these terrific partnerships, we have supported 16 different charities to raise much needed funds to continue their work,” he said.
With the recent Clipsal 500 Adelaide generating a record-breaking $65.6 million of economic impact to the state, OzHarvest CEO Ronni Kahn said she was excited about partnering with Australia’s largest ticketed domestic motorsport event.
“We’re very grateful and excited to have the support of one of motorsports showcase events, which like OzHarvest is an integral part of the community in South Australia,” Ms Kahn said.
“The partnership provides great exposure for OzHarvest SA and allows us to raise much needed funds so that we can continue to rescue and deliver food, and grow our education and engagement programs that help disadvantaged young people,” she said.
For every $1 amount donated through the 2017 Clipsal 500 Adelaide charity partnership, OzHarvest SA will deliver two meals to South Australians in need.
