OzHarvest Sapphire Coast Food Shelves a Success

by

Thanks to the Wallaga Lake-Bermagui Men’s Shed, OzHarvest Sapphire Coast food deliveries to local preschools, schools and community centres have been made much easier by the installation of shelving units to display produce.

Locals at Shed assembled and painted the shelves OzHarvest yellow, which are now being installed throughout the community.  The new shelving units have been welcomed by Cobargo Preschool, Bermagui Preschool, Wallaga Lake Community Centre, Quaama Public School and Narooma Preschool.

Sapphire Coast Chapter Coordinator, Rebeccah Norman said special thanks goes to Mark Spoehr, an OzHarvest volunteer who has given his time to the Men’s Shed every week and also President of the Men’s Shed, Phil Baldwin who has supported the initiative.

OzHarvest Sapphire Coast is run by local volunteers in Bermagui, Narooma and Quaama and has to date saved 15,000 kg of surplus food from landfill and delivered it to people in need. To get involved in the local Sapphire Coast community, please email [email protected].
