You know winter is here when 10 tonnes of pumpkins arrive on your doorstep!  The fifth annual Pumpkin Run initiated by New England Youth Organisation – Pathfinders – took place last week.  A team of young people joined OzHarvest staff and chefs in the kitchen to transform the pumpkins (grown at Pathfinders’ Tilbuster Station working farm, near Armidale) into delicious hot meals to feed people in need.

By the end of the day, seven crates were filled with over 8,000 meals including a heart-warming pumpkin soup and a huge delivery of sliced pumpkins filled the shelves of The OzHarvest Market in Kensington. Everyone had great fun, chopping, slicing, dicing and stirring and feeling a sense of pride giving back to the community.
