OzHarvest, as the official Australian partner of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is privileged to be part of the UNEP global campaign against food waste – THINK.EAT.SAVE.
On Monday 27th July, OzHarvest will hold, for the third year, THINK.EAT.SAVE simultaneously around Australia in; Brisbane, Canberra, Goldcoast, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney and here in Adelaide.
At OzHarvest Adelaide we are delighted to again be partnering with the National Wine Centre and the University of Adelaide to offer a free lunch for 1500 members of the public, at the University of Adelaide Goodman Lawns, North Terrace, between 11.30am and 2.30pm.
A number of Adelaide’s most well-known chefs and food personalities including Tze Khaw (National Wine Centre), Dennis Leslie, Philip Pope and Hamish Robertson (Adelaide Oval), Gavin Robertson (Adelaide Convention Centre), Tania Tauakume (Sebel Playford), Nick Finn (2KW), Bree May (Food According to Bree) and Dougal McFuzzlebutt (McFuzzlebutt’s Manchen (Man Kitchen) will donate their time and talents to preparing delicious hot meals and dessert for the event from ingredients rescued by our OzHarvest team.
THINK.EAT.SAVE will highlight how easy it is to reduce the unimaginable levels of food waste in Australia and internationally, and how governments, businesses and individuals can help.
Other well- known food personalities including Callum Hann and Themis Chyrssidis (Sprout), Rebecca Sullivan, Silvia Hart, and Amanda McInerney will also be lending a hand on the day and helping us to spread the message that we can all contribute to reducing the amount of food waste that occurs in South Australia, across the country and throughout the world.
Join us for a free lunch and to listen to a panel discussion moderated by OzHarvest Ambassador Keith Conlon, along with other friends of OzHarvest including Simon Bryant, Richard Gunner (Feast Fine Foods), Nick Thwaites (The Productive Garden Co.), Chef Tze Khaw (National Wine Centre) and our very own State Manager Hayley Everuss aimed at helping to prompt thinking about food sustainability issues and encouraging people to make their own pledge to reduce food waste.
