OzHarvest releases second cookbook – Urban Harvest

by

Celebrating 10 years this year, OzHarvest has delivered 30 million meals to Australians in need, rescued 10,000 tonnes of good quality surplus food and are now celebrating the release of their second cookbook Urban Harvest.

Applauding kitchen gardens of all shapes and sizes, Urban Harvest features 100 delicious food-rescue recipes from 50 of the country’s most celebrated chefs including Guillame Brahimi, Matt Moran and Neil Perry, who share their personal journeys in the kitchen (and garden), inspiring every day cooks with meals that can be easily created at home.

A second addition to the OzHarvest cookbook collection, with the first cookbook self-titled OzHarvest Cookbook, Urban Harvest takes inspiration from the home gardens, vertical walls, community gardens and chefs’ kitchen gardens that are springing up in cities all over the world.

Founder and CEO of OzHarvest, Ronni Kahn, said the new book hopes to inspire people, families and communities to embrace local and seasonal produce, reduce food waste and to get involved in growing their own produce.

“Urban Harvest aims to encourage all Australians to get involved in growing, learning and cooking delicious and nutritious food.

“Kids are the future of our precious world. Now more than ever before, it is so important we educate the next generation on where their food comes from, the importance of reducing food waste, food sustainability and the resources it takes to get food on our plate. Plus every book sold allows OzHarvest to deliver more meals!” said Kahn.

Also included in Urban Harvest is an interview with Costa Georgiadis, celebrity landscape architect and television personality who shares his tips on growing your own produce, no matter the size of your garden.

Lovingly created by Frost* collective, the creative group under the guidance of CEO and Executive Creative Director, Vince Frost pulled together a top team of writers, editors, stylists, food photographers and paper merchants, to volunteer their services to produce Urban Harvest free of cost including top food photographers Anson Smart, Dieu Tan, Luisa Brimble, Craig Wall and Sooti Tan.

Each beautifully styled, lovingly captured and colourful page from the cookbook oozes passion, dedication and love from this top team of collaborators.

This hardcover 300-page cookbook is a must-buy for anyone interested in starting an urban garden at home and experiencing the journey from seed to plate – not to mention the perfect gift for Christmas.

All proceeds from the book will go directly to OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue charity that redistributes good quality surplus food and delivers it to more than 600 charities across Australia, providing food to vulnerable women, children and men.

OzHarvest can provide two meals for every $1 donated, so for every book purchased, 120 meals can be delivered to those in need. This is the gift that keeps on giving.

Urban Harvest is available for Christmas pre-sale orders at the OzHarvest Soul Shop RRP$60 or by calling OzHarvest on 1800 108 006.
