Food Rescue
Launched in 2010, OzHarvest Newcastle now has three vans rescuing food from Raymond Terrace, to Maitland, to Cessnock, to Wyong. Food rescue operations are stronger than ever, with over 140,000 meals delivered every month.

Food Relief during COVID-19
OzHarvest cooked meals program creates and delivers around 500-600 frozen, ready-to-eat meals every week for vulnerable communities in Newcastle. To provide additional food relief during COVID-19, more than 6,700 hampers were distributed to people in need throughout the Hunter region – that’s almost 250,000 meals!

Volunteer
Thanks to a team of over 100 volunteers, we are able to support vulnerable people in the local community. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please click the button below.

Nourish
OzHarvest has partnered with Lendlease to expand our Nourish program to Newcastle. Nourish provides opportunities for at-risk youth (aged 16–25) by mentoring and training students in a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations. The program offers more than just hospitality skills as it creates hope, opportunity and employment pathways for self-sustainability.
In February 2021, Nourish launched in Newcastle thanks to Lendlease. This three-year partnership will fund the launch of Nourish Newcastle, while also supporting the program nationally. Read about the launch here.

FEAST
FEAST (Food Education and Sustainability Training) is a curriculum aligned program aimed at year 5 and 6 students. FEAST runs for 7-10 weeks and is a STEM project-based learning program focusing on food and sustainability. The teacher-led program can be adapted and changed to suit your school’s needs.
Like any good FEAST, it’s designed to be fun, engaging and filled with good food.
